They’re one of the strongest couples in showbiz, and now footballing legend David Beckham and his Spice Girl turned fashion designer wife Victoria have renewed their wedding vows in a private ceremony.
The loved up couple first married in an outlandish ceremony in Ireland in 1999. They signed a magazine deal for a significant sum of cash, and were pictured sitting on thrones after their ceremony. However, David says their latest ceremony was a much more low key affair.
While appearing on Radio 4’s iconic show Desert Island Discs, David, 41, said he and Victoria renewed their wedding vows to each other in front of only half a dozen people, in their own home.
The pair first met at a Manchester United game in 1997 after David fell for the star when he saw her in the Spice Girls group. They were married in a lavish ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle and have gone on to have four children – now ranging in age from five to 17.
Posh and Becks
They became dubbed Posh and Becks by the British media and became a brand as a pair. However, the sweet couple clearly decided that they wanted to escape the limelight this time around and opted for a much quieter ceremony to affirm their commitment to each other, and their family.
He admitted that they had thrown a lot at their first ceremony, but revealed that they had since renewed their vows in a completely different fashion. He also said that they had shared some somewhat strange dates in the early days of the relationship, revealing that they use to sit in a Harvester car park and kiss.
Asked what the secret to a successful marriage was, he said that the couple knew each other inside out and were able to work through difficult times. He also gushed about their mutual love and understanding for each other, and their children.
