A woman who went to a fancy dress shop to make herself look like a man before killing her half-sister with a chicken-shaped pot has been jailed for 20 years.

Fifty three year old Yvonne Caylor bought a ginger wig, a beard and a hi-viz jacket before heading to 26 year odl Nicki Collingbourne’s flat and launching her deadly attack. The younger woman was found the following day by concerned members of her family, who discovered her in her underwear, lying in a pool of her own blood.

CCTV images have now emerged of Caylor in her disguise before she walked into the block of flats in Herfordshire. Judge Michael Kay has now sentenced Caylor to life in prison with a minimum of 20 years, after she was found guilty of murder by a jury earlier this week.

The judge described her as “violent, dishonest and deceitful.” The court heard that as soon as she opened the door, Miss Collingbourne recognised her sister and tried to shut the door before she could get in. However, Caylor managed to force her way in.

She spent three hours in the apartment after the brutal murder, trying to make it look as if her half sister had killed herself. The murder came after the two fell out when Miss Collingbourne asked Caylor to leave the flat which the two had been sharing.

She smashed a ceramic chicken on her head, causing her to crumple to the floor before smothering Miss Collingbourne. The judge said Caylor had shown no signs of remorse for the killing, and she even swore at Miss Collingbourne’s family as she was led out of the dock to begin her prison sentence.

Before she stood trial, Caylor had been plotting to flee the country. She had carried out computer searches about driving to Spain and then flying to America, where she had lived until last year.
